Spacecraft Testing
Lifting the Spacecraft and Putting it in it's Transport Container
The spacecraft, having completed assembly (with the exception of the
Thermal Emission Spectrometer and Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter), must
be transported from the Space Sciences Building "High Bay" assembly
area to facilities around the Lockheed Martin plant in Denver for
various environmental tests. This is accomplished by lifting the
spacecraft from its assembly cradle and putting it into a purged
container. An excellent sequence of images showing this process can
be found at URL http://mgs-www.jpl.nasa.gov/mgs/se/atlo_pics/move/move.html.
Below are shown a few of the pictures from that site, noting where the
MOC sits on the nadir equipment deck (still looking to zenith in these
images).
